Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial

A dear friend of mine was traveling thru & stayed with us for almost a week. We went to see the OKC Bombing Memorial. It was really nice, here are the photos:

This is the building that was attached to the one that was blown up. Also this big tree was still standing after the explosion, they didn't think it would survive, but it has to this day. When u look up close at the tree you can see alot of marks from the explosion still on it. There is also alot of chips & cracks in the wall of the building from things fling thru the air. The spray painted info is still on the side of the building as well.
This wall says 9:01, which is when it all started.

These chairs represent the children that were in the day care center that were killed. They are lined up in order of where the children where at the time it happened.

T is down in the corner just paused under the tree he was being so good & not running around. The wall in the back with the 2 black plaques is a list of everyone that was killed.

This was just to cute Z was just chillin in her stroller as we walked around.

This wall represents the ending time, after the explosion, if my memory is right I think it says 9:03am. It looks like a pool of water between the two walls, but it's just no more then 2 inches deep, it was very nice.

This is a kiddie area where kids could draw a picture with chalk for the kids that were killed. Here is T's picture.

These are tiles that kids sent to OK from around the states. They put them together & made a wall around the kiddie area.

We went inside for the museum tour. During the tour they were playing the actual police radio & news broadcasts from that day. When the sirens went off T got very scared & said we needed to go, then when the explosion played & all the people where screaming he grabbed my hand & said "We have to get out of here mom!!" He thought it was all real. And it was just not at that moment.

Inside they had a kid zone, where u could color & play computer games & dress up. Here is T in a Fireman's outfit.

People are still placing items on this fence to this day. There was so many children's items there, it was sad.

This is not part of the actual memorial, this is what the church across the street put up. It is a statue of Jesus with his back to the bombed building, crying. I think the black pillars represented the people that were walking by or else the people that were in the church when it happened. Cant remember for sure.

It was very heart breaking seeing all this & just as moving as the Vietnam Memorial. The guy that bombed the building was caught & was given the death penalty, he has been executed.
